SPAC-CRADLE project

Plant

Work Package 2

Measuring and modeling vegetation's role in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, from leaf physiology to canopy-scale water inputs.

Key activities
  • Continuous and periodic plant physiological measurements
  • Quantifying non-rainfall water inputs at the canopy level
  • Estimating vegetation biophysical traits from remote sensing
  • Adapting prognostic SPAC models to simulate non-rainfall water effects on water and carbon fluxes

Collects data and model processes related to vegetation’s role within the SPAC, including sampling both continuous and periodic plant physiological measurements and quantifying non-rainfall water inputs at the canopy level. This also includes estimating key vegetation biophysical traits from remote sensing and adapting prognostic SPAC models to better simulate the effect of non-rainfall water inputs on water and carbon fluxes.
